Safer and The BSIF

Unfortunately, over the past few months in particular, the quantity of non-approved products being sold in the UK has increased dramatically. Other than the fact that these products are illegal.  All PPE must be correctly tested and certified to meet the appropriate European standard. Unfortunately, the quantity of non-approved product being sold into the UK is on the increase. Such products should not be used for business because they contravene safety legislation.

Not only are the numbers rising for non-approved equipment, there are also counterfeit products also being sold all over the UK. In our experience, they do not perform as they should. Especially during this pandemic, the selling and purchasing of these products are putting lives at risk and exposing sellers to prosecution.

To help to combat these counterfeit sales, BSIF have created a scheme known as the Registered Safety Supplier (RSS) scheme. This enables companies to become registered to ensure their customers know their products are up to standard and safe. To ensure you are buying approved and safe products, look out for companies displaying the schemes logo shown below.

Being registered to this scheme means the company have signed a declaration to ensure their products are meeting the appropriate standards, they are fully compliant with the PPE regulations and are appropriately CE marked. Like us at Safer, all registered Safety Supplies are independently audited to confirm their compliance with the scheme’s requirements. A complete list of all registered companies is available here.

We are proud to be part of the scheme as we know we are maintaining our quality; we can educate others of the possibilities of counterfeit products and that our customers are not only safe but also are buying products that perform as they should.
